Increasing demand for cancer prevention, screening and treatment
Engaging communities and networks of people living with HIV to reach those
most at risk – the Jali Afya Model expansion in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam.
The
Problem
• Cancer is a major public health challenge in Tanzania
• Almost 40% of new cancer cases in females in 2018 was cervical cancer
and together with breast cancer it constituted more than 50% of new cases in females in 2018.
• Prostate a quarter of male cancers
• Globally, women living with HIV have up to 5 times higher rates of cervical cancer than other women.
• HIV positive women develop cervical cancer on average 10 years earlier than other women.

Mhudumu wa Afya ngazi ya Jamii anawajibika kufanya shughuli ambazo zitazochochea mabadiliko ya tabia na kubuni mazingira rafiki yatakayosaidia jamii kutumia huduma za afya na kubadili tabia dhidi ya mila potofu.
NEW BIOMEDICAL HIV PREVENTION PRODUCT INTRODUCTION IN TANZANIA
TNW+ and Tanzania DVR Champions would like to see DVR is Regulatory approved in Tanzania.
We plan to develop advocacy messages and share the brief messages to influence national prevention services department under Ministry of Health by providing scientific evidence on efficacy of DVR based on other countries like South Africa and Zimbabwe who are now providing the product to AGYW and women.
This is a one day program to be convened in Dodoma City where the MOH is based.
We would like to engage AGYW and women representatives – (1) Veronica Lyimo from WLHIV Platform, (2) Dr. Lilian Mwakyosa – ICW EA Consultant for DVR, (3) representative, (4) Catherine Madebe – AYA (AVAC Fellowship), (5) Kennedy Godwin – TNW+, Francis Luwole – AVAC Coordinator (T)
National level:
MOH – Prevention services department –(1) Director of Prevention, (2) National Research Coordinator, PORALG,(PEPFAR Representatives, TMDA, NIMRI, UNAIDS, UNFPA – Virtual)
Africa:
